SAN FRANCISCO – November 26, 2001 – Coremetrics,
a leading provider of data-driven business intelligence solutions,
today announced that Nortel Networks has selected Coremetrics
to provide customized data capture and storage services for
the family of Nortel Networks corporate Web sites. Coremetrics
will capture visitor activity data from the Nortel Networks
corporate Web sites to provide the company with a complete source
of information about online customer behavior. Nortel Networks
will leverage Coremetrics' customized data capture technology
and the Core Data Platform to improve Internet business
performance and increase overall customer satisfaction.
"In-depth customer knowledge is the cornerstone of any
successful enterprise, and Nortel Networks has established global
leadership by focusing intensely on customer needs," said
Scott Kauffman, president and CEO of Coremetrics. "We are
pleased that an industry leader like Nortel Networks has selected
our technology to help understand customer behavior, and we
are dedicated to helping them leverage the Internet to improve
customer satisfaction across all sales channels."
Coremetrics will gather online customer data directly from the
visitor's browser, recording interactions in real-time as the
visitor browses the wide range of Nortel Networks Web site properties,
which include product configuration engines and customer support
applications in addition to Nortel Networks' primary corporate
web site. Online customer behavior will be collected in a centralized
manner across five different Nortel Networks Web applications
dispersed over nine different Nortel domain names. To effectively
deliver this solution, Coremetrics will integrate its browser-based
data collection technology across a wide range of Nortel Web
platforms, including Trilogy, BroadVision, and Verity. Without
Coremetrics, it would be virtually impossible to capture detailed
information about Nortel Networks' customer's Web behavior in
an accurate and consolidated manner across this wide range of
technical platforms and Web domains, which are geographically
dispersed in Texas, California, North Carolina, and Canada.
The detailed customer information will be stored in the Core
Data Platform, a hosted data warehouse of complete and accurate
online customer data. Coremetrics will take information from
the Core Data Platform and deliver it to Nortel Networks each
night for in-depth analysis of Web site usability and performance.
